What is it like to live on the course at Rhodes Ranch?
It is a rare mix: a staffed gate, a golf course, and a big recreation center, at prices closer to the middle of the market than most gated golf communities. Jim Rhodes announced the community in 1996, and the Rhodes Ranch Golf Club opened in November 1997.
The course is a public Ted Robinson design with eight lakes and thousands of palms, laid out through the original neighborhoods. There is no club membership to buy. You pay for a round when you want one, the same as a visitor.
Daily life runs through the R Club on Rhodes Ranch Parkway, a 35,000 square foot center with a gym and indoor courts, with the Fun Zone water park and a lap pool next door. All of it is covered by the HOA dues. Century Communities bought Rhodes Ranch in 2014 and built many of the newest homes.
Things to weigh: a fairway lot means stray balls and early mowers, and some neighborhoods carry a second association on top of the master dues. Durango Drive shopping is a few minutes away, and the 215 gets you to Summerlin and Red Rock Canyon quickly.
