Community guide

What is it like to live on the course at Anthem Country Club?

It is quiet, gated, and high up. The community sits on the slopes below Black Mountain, so the fairways drop away toward long views of the valley. Del Webb started Anthem in 1998, the course opened the next spring, and most homes went up through the 2000s, so yards and trees have had time to fill in.

The big thing to understand is the club. It is its own business, with a clubhouse, dining, a pool, a fitness center, and tennis and pickleball courts. A fairway home does not come with any of that. You apply and pay the club if you want to play, and lots of neighbors simply enjoy the view. Golfers who skip the membership often play the public Revere courses close by.

Homes run from semi-custom plans on regular lots to custom estates on an acre or more. Some of the neighborhoods inside have their own association on top of the master one, so total dues can change a lot from one street to the next.

Course lots come with the usual tradeoffs: a stray ball now and then, mowers early in the morning, and rules about what you can build or plant along the fairway. Ask us which side of a hole a home sits on before you fall for the view.

Before you buy

What should you check before buying a golf home in Anthem Country Club?

Price out the club if you want to play, look hard at where the home sits on the hole, and read every association package before you remove contingencies.

  1. Membership is its own purchase

If golf or the clubhouse matters to you, ask the club about membership types, initiation, dues, and any wait list before you make an offer.

  2. Changes to the course

The club, not the HOA, runs the course. The water district capped course watering starting in 2024, so ask whether any turf removal or redesign is planned near the home.

  3. Where the home sits on the hole

Stand in the backyard on a busy morning. Check windows, stucco, and patio covers for ball damage, and ask whether the seller added netting.

  4. On the fairway or just a view

A golf view listing can look at the course from across a street or from downhill. Check the plat map if you want the course right behind the wall.

  5. Every association and any SID

Get the resale package from the Anthem Country Club Community Association and any neighborhood association, and ask whether the tax bill carries a Special or Local Improvement District balance.

  6. Insurance on the exact address

Get a quote early and ask how the policy handles glass and roof damage from golf balls.
